Depression / Anxiety Treatment |
|
Practicing yoga postures should be done with long, smooth, deep breath. When done correctly, this lowers your heart rate, which lowers the blood pressure, and subsequently lowers the activities of the mind…leading to peace of mind / contentment. Thus, many people suffering from anxiety find yoga useful.
For depression I frequently prescribe noise along with the movements, I have found that sounding out loud can help let off steam. People with depression should keep moving, and not stay still too long since that can lead to lethargic behavior. Thus, I often recommend exercise, i.e. going out for a walk, riding a bike, etc.
